Miami artist ROGER DEL PINO presents a series of experimental sound & video pieces. An aspiring music composer/cinematographer, Del Pino finds himself at home in the luscious environments created within his films and musical compositions.
Often attempting to recreate fictitious environments through actual documentation, Del Pino’s approach to creation is based primarily on human reaction and experience. Connecting with these elements through the use of sound and video is what embodies the human experience within these environments. Becoming aware of their subtleties creates a direct relationship between the piece and its viewer enabling them to receive his/her own interpretation while allowing the human instinct to relish.
This presentation will feature sound installation "Continuum" as well as several films including “On Death ” and collaboration film with artist Cristina Molina “Migration.” This glimpse at ritualistic birth and death are an attempt to understand perceptions of the unknown and what our relationships are to the “natural” world around us. How we come to define the word “natural” plays a large role in these pieces and also helps to identify our own relationship to these inevitable realities we face as mortals.
ROGER DEL PINO studied at Florida International University, receiving a Bachelors in Communications and Fine Arts. He has exhibited his works at the Moore Space and participated in several film festivals including the Urban Nomad Film Fest at SCOPE Art Fair during Art Basel Miami 2007.
